Joakim Dahlqvist was born on the 21st July 1975 in Norberg, Sweden. After thirteen years in Singapore he returned to Sweden in 1995 to study at Chalmers School of Architecture and received a Masters degree with honors from the Design Research Laboratory at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. He began his creative career in 2000 with OMA/AMO in Rotterdam, working mainly on the research, technology and content projects for Prada. Since 2003 he has been a freelance creative consultant, continuing work on Prada projects with OMA as well as pursuing a diverse series of projects with April for National Geographic, Kram/Weisshaar, Hosoya Schaefer, Christian Kracht, Eva Munz and Acne. In 2005 he began a collaboration with Jens Hommert and Hieu Dam on a series of entreprenurial projects that have resulted in a restaurant and a bar in Los Angeles. He has written for Volume Magazine and Der Freund. He has taught and assisted workshops at Sci Arc, Otis, Berlage Institute and Architectural Association.

The work branches from architecture to art, creative direction, design research, video installations, construction, operations, research, photography, cooking, editing, illustration, animation, compositing, 3D modeling, book making and web strategies.

He is currently based in Los Angeles, Milan and Norberg working on independent projects and developing future collaborations.
